Dr. Gyöngyvér Mara: Microorganisms living inside us

The Coffee House lectures continue in Sfântu Gheorghe on Tuesday, the 15th of March 2016, with new lecturers and brand new topics.

The first lecture entitled ‘Microorganisms Living Inside Us’ will be held by our assistant professor Dr. Gyöngyvér Mara in the Tein teahouse.

About the lecture:

Did you know that we have more than ten times as many microorganisms in our body than human cells? Earlier studies showed the presence of microbes mainly in our intestinal tract; however, genetic testing has recently proved that there is not a single completely sterile human tissue in our body. The human body is, as it turns out, a complex living space. One of the biggest challenges of our time is to identify the effects that microorganisms have on our body. Probably, these microbial communities have a key role in maintaining our health or developing diseases.

Date: Tuesday, 15th of March 2016, 6 p.m.

Place: Sfântu Gheorghe, Tein Teahouse
