The Library of the Faculty of Economics, Socio-Human Sciences and Engineering of the Sapientia University in Miercurea Ciuc started its operation in 2001. Its main objective is to aid and assist educational and research work at the University. This objective determines the basic criteria for developing document collection and creating suitable library environment.
The collection of the Library is continuously growing through purchases and donations. The value of the collection is especially increased by donations of books representing the legacies of outstanding personalities of Hungarian culture: Mihály Sükösd, Ernő Fábián, István Jákli, Mária Szent-Györgyi, André Kosztolany, Rudolf Andorka, Béla Köpeczi etc.
As a result of the founding work of the past years, at present there are about 60,000 documents (books, CDs etc.) available for the readers. The Library's collection is arranged in thematic groups mostly on open-access shelves. The readers` orientation is facilitated by an up-to-date online catalogue which helps not only in searching and browsing documents, but also in the renewal of the borrowing period, making reservations for documents to borrow, etc.
For further information and research work, library users have several online databases (see Useful links) at their disposal, having access to thousands of scientific publications from all over the world.
