Call for papers Regional competitiveness: governance, knowledge, changes

Miercurea Ciuc, 25-26. October 2013

During the last ten years, the region characterized by four small towns has became an emerging pole of regional sciences and regional studies in Romania. Now one can find two university departments in Sfantu Gheorghe, one of them dealing with public administration and governance issues, the other with business related regional questions, there is one university extension in Gheorgheni, focusing on tourism in its regional context, in Odorheiu Secuiesc the team has a strong local embeddedness, supporting local business initiatives with knowledge and trainings, while in Miercurea Ciuc several academics make research in regional development, spatial planning, regional marketing and planning. Conferences, workshops, conference proceedings, books and articles are the milestones of the development of regional sciences in the region.
The organisers of the present event hold the opinion that the time has come to strengthen academic and research cooperation in the region in order to reach the next level of academic activity. The conference also has the aim of networking with researchers from traditional scientific centers of Romania, and also from abroad.
The scientific committee of the conference does hope that during the event researchers will take advantage of discussing recent findings in regional sciences and regional studies, presenting new research findings, discussing approaches of planning and practice, while exploring also the networking opportunity.
The papers accepted and sent on time will be included in the conference proceeding.
