Today it is accepted that the main causes of climate change is the accumulation of carbon dioxide in atmosphere resulted from the human activities (anthropogenic) and the thus increased greenhouse effect. At present the Earth’s ecosystems can swallow approximately one fourth of the carbon dioxide of anthropogenic origin, slowing down global warming. In order to form a better image of the climate’s future change, it is very important to know what factors influence the carbon dioxide fixation changing from year to year.

Survey of the state of Szeklerland
On Thursday afternoon in Sf. Gheorghe a voluminous document, a volume of studies was presented about the current state of Szeklerland. On the order of the National Strategic Research Institute, young researches of different specializations, primarily staff members of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania have assumed the task. The document was completed after half a year of research and another half a year of editing, and it presents our region’s current state; itcan serve as a basis for the elaboration of a development strategy.

The elderly people from the region of Miercurea Ciuc relax mostly by going on trips, picnicking and celebrations; regular programs organized by clubs, associations and foundations are provided for them. However, as compared to the nearly 80 thousand pensioners from Harghita county, there is only a small number of pensioners who are actively involved in the organized social activities.

This year about 150 students from Harghita, Covasna, Mureș, Cluj, Sălaj and Bihor counties attended the Lab Geek (Laborkukac) contest. For the final round 30 teams participated in Miercurea Ciuc. The goal of the contest hosted by the Department of Industrial Biotechnologies and the Department of Food Products Engineering of the Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania was to enhance the practical knowledge of the students in biology and chemistry.
