Sapientia University in Riga - The Erasmus+ Project continues

It has already been a year since the Department of Humanities of Sapientia University joined the international project called KeySkills4EUHotelStaff, as part of the Erasmus+ EU program. The project targets primarily but not exclusively employers and students interested in tourism and hotel industry, offering them interactive learning materials. Among the objectives of the project has been the creation of an online platform in English (level B2-C1), as well as a smartphone application in 12 European languages (including Hungarian and Romanian) (level A2-B1) on topics related to tourism and hotel industry. There are six project partners: Croatia (as project coordinator), Slovenia, Italy, Latvia, Great Britain and also Romania, represented by the Department of Humanities of Sapientia University.

Between 23-25 September the Department of Humanities took part in a project meeting organized by Turiba University, Riga, Latvia. This meeting was preceded by two former conferences, one in Dubrovnik, and one in Miercurea Ciuc. This time its purpose was to bring the partners together so that they could discuss and evaluate the results obtained and also define the tasks ahead. The participants, among them also language teachers and local representatives of tourism industry, had the opportunity to test the language learning program and the smartphone application.

The meeting was accompanied by cultural programs, including the sightseeing of Riga, known for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture, beautiful parks and monuments, giving the partners the opportunity to learn more about each other and their institutions.

The next meeting, which Sapientia University is also expected to attend, will take place in Genoa, Italy, in April 2016.
